John Louis likely to win close battle in Michael Page International Shergar Cup Challenge (Handicap)
A tough competition of horseracing is expected in the Michael Page International Shergar Cup Challenge (Handicap) at Ascot in England on Saturday, August 11, 2012. The winner of the class-3 event will grab a cash prize of ?14,754 in the end.
Ittirad, Viking Storm, John Biscuit, Star Commander and John Louis are all capable of winning the race today and there will be a stiff competition amongst them. They have been in terrific form this year and will give a tough time to each other.
The former of the above mentioned participants has managed to win the confidence of the bookmakers, thus they have declared him as the favourite to win. His starting price will be 4 to 1, but the punters might still not risk a lot of money in his favour, as he has got a poor strike rate.
The Roger Varian?s trainee has won a single race in his career out of nine attempts and his only race at Ascot proved to be a nightmare for him, as he finished ninth in it.?
On the other hand, John Louis has been priced 13 to 2 because of his impressive performances in recent times. He has never raced at Ascot before, but the change in conditions will not hurt him much.
Overall, the four-year-old gelding has participated in a total of 10 races, winning four of them. All his victories came in the ongoing season, which shows that he is full of confidence right now.
The Philip McBride?s trainee debuted in 2011 and took part in just three races that year. His performances were quite decent, as he secured a couple of back-to-back fourth positions at the start of his career before ending the season with a third place finish.
Although, Bertolini?s son failed to start the ongoing season on a high, yet he bounced back strongly and earned a lot of respect amongst the horseracing followers. He was victorious in his previous two races, thus he is carrying an excellent momentum right now. If he manages to finish at the top today, he will record the first hat-trick of his career. His partner, Emma Jayne Wilson, will be helping him out in order to achieve the feat.
