Galaxy S III rumored to receive Jelly Bean in Q3; Galaxy S II and Note updates slated for Q4

Galaxy S III Jelly Bean Update

Samsung (005930) will reportedly update a number of its flagship smartphones to the latest version of Android by the end of the year. According to SamMobile, the Galaxy S III will be the company?s first handset to be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, followed by the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note. The website notes, however, if Samsung suddenly decides not to update the Galaxy S II, owners will receive a ?value pack? update. The Galaxy S III is expected to receive an update by the end of the third quarter of 2012, while the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note will receive an update sometime in the fourth quarter.?According to the website?s sources, the Galaxy Note II?was being tested on Android 4.0 and it is unclear if the ?phablet? will launch with Jelly Bean or Ice Cream Sandwich. If it is the latter, however, an update is expected to arrive early in the fourth quarter.?Samsung is reportedly scheduled to?announce the Galaxy Note II?on August 29th at the IFA trade show in Berlin.
