Use new nonprofit research tool for charitable donors ? Business ...

The IRS has launched a new online tool, Exempt Organizations (EO) Select Check, which makes it easier for charitable donors to research tax-exempt organizations.

Now you can go to one location (www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=249767,00.html), select a tax-exempt organization and check to see if it?s eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions. Users may rely on this list in determining charitable donation deductions. Similarly, you can find out if an organization?s tax-exempt status has been revoked for failing to file a Form 990-series return or notice for three consecutive years.

EO Select Check also offers several improved search functions. Read www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=249768,00.html for suggestions on how to best use the search application.
