Broncos coach John Fox taken to hospital

DENVER (AP) — Denver coach John Fox was kept overnight for observation at a Charlotte, N.C., hospital after feeling light-headed playing golf during the Broncos' bye week Saturday.

Team spokesman Patrick Smyth said the 58-year-old Fox "is in good spirits and he told me he did not suffer a heart attack."

Smyth said Fox texted him in the afternoon to say, "I am doing fine. We are just running some tests and will know more in a few hours."

The only update the Broncos provided later Saturday was to say Fox would stay overnight at the hospital so doctors could continue to monitor him.

Running back C.J. Anderson was among the players who sent their well wishes on Twitter, saying, "Prayers go out 2 Fox we here coach."

Fox was with a group of friends and family on a golf course near his offseason home when he started feeling dizzy, Smyth said.

Fox is in his third season as Broncos coach after a nine-year stint with the Carolina Panthers. He's 107-88 overall, including 6-5 in the playoffs. In Denver, he's 29-14, including 20-5 since quarterback Peyton Manning's arrival.

The Broncos (7-1) reconvene Monday in preparation for their Nov. 10 game at San Diego.
