Credit card rates remained unchanged from last week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards stayed steady at 15.24 percent. The APR for fixed-rate cards remained at 13.02 percent for the 12th straight week.

The average credit card debt per consumer fell just more than 2.5 percent in April to $5,089 from $5,220 in March, according to CreditKarma's latest survey of consumer debt released Monday. April's level of debt also was almost 10 percent lower than the year before.
